Beautiful Music, and One Epic Screw Up

Just felt like I had to share this.  Probably the best Star-Spangled Banner ever sung.  Marvin Gaye was a master:

Also, the funniest.  Not the worst, because, heck, Natalie Gilbert was only 13 at the time, so you have to cut her some slack.  But this really is funny, and I think she’ll thank Maurice Cheeks for the rest of her life, in what is one of the classiest moves anyone could ever make:

Oh, and as long as we’re on the subject of patriotic songs, here’s Ray Charles with “America the Beautiful.”  I could listen to this every day, picturing myself sitting in a hammock, sipping lemonade, as fireworks explode overhead.
